Allu Arjun admits personally calling makers of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava to avert BO clash with Pushpa 2; reveals, “They were very accommodative” – Watch

The wait is finally over for those waiting to see Vicky Kaushal portray Maratha king Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the historical epic actioner Chhaava. However, the film was originally supposed to release in theatres on December 6 but was postponed to avoid a box office clash with Allu Arjun’s pan-India film Pushpa 2. Now, Arjun has opened up about the clash and how it was averted.

During an event in Hyderabad on Saturday, Allu Arjun opened up about how he reached out to the makers of Chhaava to ensure Pushpa 2 have a solo release on December 4. Scroll below to read what he said and watch the video where he thanks them too.

Allu Arjun on Pushpa 2 Chhavva BO clash being averted

As seen in the video shared below, Allu Arjun says in English, “The other day, when I called up one of the filmmakers from Bollywood, sorry Hindi cinema – I’m not a fan of that word Bollywood. In Hindi cinema I called up somebody and I said – they were also supposed to come on December 6… They were very accommodative, and they moved from that date.”

He continued, “I personally called them and thanked them for moving the date. They said, ‘We’re all fans of Pushpa, and if you come, then we will make way for it.'” Watch the clip below.

While Chhava will release in theatres this Friday, February 14, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 hit screens on December 5. The film – made on a budget of around Rs 500 crore, had an impressive box office run. The film grossed Rs 280 crore worldwide on its opening day, becoming the highest day-one grossing Indian film to date. It also became the highest day-one grossing film ever in India with a collection of Rs 200 crore at the domestic market. The film concluded its theatrical run with a worldwide gross of around Rs 1,642–1,800 crore.

Pushpa 2’s reloaded version began streaming on Netflix on January 30 and is available for viewing in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali languages
